The last month

Since Valentine's Day, I have been updating my website with a thorough going-over and new work. The new version will be up by next week.

kkatzen: I love to create narrative paintings and assemblages, as well as graphic arts, posters, and cards. I am fascinated by things seen, of course, but also by things unseen, like ghosts and angels. When I work on an idea, it takes on a life of its own somewhere in the middle of the process; the painting or assemblage takes over and tells me where to go. When it ends up telling a story, but that story invites your interpretation or questions, or challenges both of us to think about something a new way, it's a good work. When you can't get it out of your mind, it's a really good work!

Can you say "Giclee"?

Know this term? A giclee is a archival-quality digital print. When someone wants a print of one of my paintings, I usually choose a giclee on stretched canvas produced by a reproduction specialist, so the print is extremely hard to distinguish from the original. The inks are also archival, a term that means that they should last as long as good artist's materials, essentially a lifetime.
